Storybook Favorites
This post is dedicated to explaining some of the previous storybook examples I have found and enjoyed.
The first storybook is related to Robin Hood. I was already familiar with the tale of Robin Hood from my childhood. Therefore, when I saw this storybook I figured there might be a few interesting anecdotes relating back to a cherished childhood memory. I particularly enjoyed the tale of Robin Hood and Little John. In this story, we see an interesting character of Robin Hood as he might appear on his day off. I thought it was really interesting as I have always seen him depicted right in the middle of an activity, never on his off time. This intrigued me to learn more and I was not disappointed.
The next storybook I looked at was Wizarding World Tales. I chose this one because I am a huge Harry Potter nerd so any fanfiction relating to Harry Potter already has my interest. I particularly enjoyed the tale titled "Forbidden Forest: The Forest Spirit" because the main character was Luna Lovegood. This character presented monumental opportunities for the author to dive into all the creatures that existed in this universe. Sadly Luna never received much screen time in the overarching narrative which is a travesty. To put a name to the character's face, I have attached a picture from the films below.
Finally, the last storybook I enjoyed was entitled hell on earth. I am a religion major and I have always been fascinated by Dantes Inferno. I feel it a really insightful text which provides an interesting view of the human condition. I am also fascinated with tales of individuals that claim to have been to hell. So, once I saw this storybook I was hooked. The specific tale I enjoyed was "Addiction". I felt it was a very interesting concept of verbal to physical equation. The author clearly has some imagination that is quite unique.
Oh, I am so glad you looked at that particular Dante Storybook: it was really haunting! That is from several years ago, but I remember it well. And some kind of combination of Dante and Harry Potter might make a really cool mash-up for this class. People have done all kinds of Harry Potter projects, in both this class AND in Indian Epics class (Nagini's name is from the Indian mythological beings called Nagas)... but no one has done a Dante/Potter mash-up before. My mind is just buzzing to think about it: so many possibilities! :-)
